The iconic Land Rover Defender has been gracing the tracks since the early 1980s. The coil sprung, live axle vehicle took the 4×4 community by storm, impressing even the harshest critics. Across the years many people and companies have modified the Defender to improve the capability and comfort of the vehicle.

On the back of many successful applications, ARB has now released the Old Man Emu BP-51 shock absorber for the Land Rover Defender in the 110 and 130 models, offering class-leading compression and rebound adjustability in a bypass shock absorber, with remote reservoir, for on and off road performance in a model specific application.

To boost the articulation in the vehicle, the ARB Engineers have reconfigured areas of the vehicle to allow full movement of the shock for a longer range of travel, allowing 242mm in the front and 236mm in the rear.

For the serious Defender enthusiasts, a few modifications won’t scare them off. Extensions to the front and rear bump stops, sway bar and rear upper shock mount plus a front shock turret replacement are all necessary hardware to correctly fit this application of BP-51 remote reservoir.
