Described as “the toughest one day off road race on the planet”, the annual King of the Hammers event has grown from 12 teams racing for bragging rights and a case of beer, to more than 300 teams competing before more than 35,000 fans in person and nearly 500,000 watching online.

KOH is the ultimate test for drivers, vehicles and off road accessories. Just imagine the level of stress an off road buggy putting out over 800HP places on its driveline components. Vehicles that are capable of running in excess of 160km/h while still maintaining gear ratios as low as 100:1 to enable controlled, technical rock crawling.

The answer is – A LOT of stress, running through a differential the size of which you’d find on a standard Toyota HiLux! That’s why race teams scour the globe for the absolute best in aftermarket products, to ensure their vehicles not only to finish, but finish as close to the top of the standings as possible.

So what do the best of the best choose when it comes to selectable traction on demand. ARB Air Lockers, that’s what. 100% of King of the Hammers finishers chose ARB Air Lockers as their weapon of choice over every other selectable locker. A testament to the performance and reliability of the product.

In the Every Man Challenge race, the number one finisher’s in each class proudly sported Air Lockers, with Brad Lovell finishing first in the Legend Class whilst Jess Combs dominated the Modified Class. The King Of The Hammers race has been ARB’s proving ground for years. Our philosophy here is simple; if we can design, develop and subject our products to the most gruelling conditions and come up on top then our job here is done.

2016 King of the HammersJason Scherer, who placed 2nd overall in the Ultra 4 class had this to say about Air Lockers.
“I like being engaged as if I had a spool when the ARB is engaged, there is no delay in the ratchet that could slide you off your line and when I get to the desert sections the fully open diff saves the drivetrain parts.”

2016 King of the HammersTom Wayes, another driver running Air Lockers, had this to say.
“They always work flawlessly for me. Put them in and forget about it. At the Hammers, the versatility that comes from being able to go full lock to open makes it easier on my drivetrain and I only use it when I need it. It helps tremendously in turning and initiating turns in the high speed washes and the toughest hardcore trails of the Hammers.”

If these guys can rely on Air Lockers to survive in the toughest off road race in the world, you can rely on them to tackle anything you can throw at them on the tracks.
