DAY 1: KILSYTH → MANSFIELD

Kick off your journey from Melbourne with a scenic drive through Yea and into Mansfield. Make a quick stop at the Yea Bakery for a bite, then settle in for the night at the Mansfield Motel. Enjoy dinner at Delatite’s and stock up on groceries at Mansfield’s IGA for the trip ahead.

ARB Tip: On your way into Mansfield, head to one of our favourite photography locations, The Paps, to have a breathtaking view of Lake Eildon!

DAY 2: MANSFIELD → LOVICKS HUT

Start your day with a quality brew and breakfast at Merchant Café in Mansfield, then fuel up before hitting the dirt. Travel along Howqua Track toward the iconic Bluff Hut for stunning views and a slice of High Country history. Set up camp at Lovick’s Hut – known for its flat ground, making it perfect for a cosy campfire and dinner under the stars.

ARB Tip: The huts are available to travellers in emergency situations, so while you are able to visit and camp on the grounds, please ensure the hut itself is left available for shelter.

DAY 3: LOVICKS HUT → MYRTLEFORD

Leave Lovick’s Hut and make your way to Pineapple Flat for a scenic lunch stop before the terrain gets tougher. Take on the rocky climb of Burnt Top Track to Wild Horse Gap, perfect for putting ARB Air Lockers to the test. With river crossings, recoveries, and a bit of night driving, this leg is made for adventure lovers. Wrap up the day with an overnight stay in Myrtleford.

ARB Tip: We highly recommend kitting your vehicle out with an ARB Air Locker to ensure you have traction on demand as you tackle these tougher tracks.

DAY 4: MYRTLEFORD → TALBOTVILLE

Fuel up in Myrtleford before heading into one of the High Country’s most iconic tracks; Blue Rag Range. After a 17km climb, take in breathtaking 360° views and enjoy lunch with a view. The route to Talbotville can be challenging in wet conditions, so be prepared for mud and tricky sections. End the day at the scenic Talbotville campsite, perfect for unwinding after a big day on the tracks.

ARB Tip: Drop your tyre pressure before tackling Blue Rag Range Track to ensure maximum traction.

DAY 5: TALBOTVILLE → DARGO

Wrap up the adventure with a drive from Talbotville to Dargo via the legendary Billy Goat Bluff, known for its spectacular views. If Junction Spur Track proves unsafe, take the Castleburn Track detour. Once you arrive in the charming township of Dargo, celebrate the journey with a well-earned pot and parma at the iconic Dargo Hotel.

ARB Tip: We recommend staying at Dargo River Inn as they have a selection of cabins and camping available plus food and a bar on site.
