Everyone starts somewhere, and at ARB our people are no different. Store owners, team members and long-time enthusiasts all share a passion for 4WDing, and that passion is at the heart of what we do.
With, on average, 140 years’ 4WDing experience per ARB store, our network harbours both knowledge and passion for the industry. Whether you need to fit out your first fourby, or build your dream custom tourer – at ARB, We Get It!
Our people are known for their passion and enthusiasm for off road driving, and many of our team members were customers long before they joined us.
WEEKEND WARRIOR
Sandy Fiske from ARB Kilsyth, Melbourne has traded the passenger seat of his mate’s 4WD for his very own HiLux to do just that.
Between studying and working at ARB, weekends are often Sandy’s only chance to take the ‘Lux off road. He’s all too familiar with the requirements of setting up a vehicle in a way that’s comfortable and convenient for a last-minute trip down the road as well as extended trips away.
Check out our latest ‘We Get It’ story where Sandy takes us through what’s gone into his HiLux build and more…
UNDERSTANDING OUTBACK TRAVEL
Store owner of ARB Elizabeth, Brad Newham loves “travelling into remote areas, camping under the stars and getting away from everything”. His fondness for The Outback is reflected in his work life too, Brad has always been passionate about helping others enjoy it for themselves by preparing and repairing their vehicles.
During his time working in Birdsville, Brad was often hitting the road to help those broken down on remote tracks, encountering all sorts of travellers along the way.
GETTING STARTED
It doesn’t get much better than sharing 4×4 knowledge and experience with novice 4WD enthusiasts, fuelling their passions for exploring the road less travelled.
Our teammates at ARB Darwin, Alyce and Tanya are a great example; Alyce has been mentoring Tanya well beyond her sales role at ARB, showing her the ropes while they explore the local tracks of Darwin together.
Hitting the off road for just under two years now, Tanya has some tips & stories to share with fellow novice 4WDers, while Alyce shares her experience and knowledge of the local off road terrain in the latest addition to our ‘We Get It’ series.
NEEDING A BIGGER SHED
Just like us, Chris from ARB Dubbo loves 4WDing. In fact, he loves every part of it – especially all the tinkering that goes on behind the scenes. When it comes to combining his love for 4WDing with his obsession for restoring vintage cars, a man can never have a big enough shed, right?
From finding the right ‘rust bucket’, through to swap meet missions and learning to bead roll and oxy weld, check out what’s gone on behind the doors of Chris’s shed full of vintage show cars.
HITTING THE TRACKS WITH YOUR MATES
At ARB our staff are 4WDers too. Prime examples are Durran, James and Karl from our South Australian stores who, when they’re not helping customers set their vehicles up for adventure, get out there together for weekends exploring exploring the tracks, camping and giving each other a little stick!
Join the trio as we explore not only what they love about their 4WD, but the stories behind their greatest off road fails, break-downs and funny moments.
FINDING THE ULTIMATE FISHING DESTINATION
With plans of big trips and adventure on her horizon, for Jessica Nixon, “doing it right” meant hitting the tracks behind the wheel of a 200 series Landcruiser. Growing up around her dad and pop’s passion for boats and four wheel driving, combined with her husband’s shared love of fishing has shaped her adventurous lifestyle into the way it is today. From catching Barramundi in Lake Proserpine, to chasing Black Marlin around Morton and Fraser Islands, the sport of fishing has led Jessica on many missions in search of the ultimate fishing destination.
ESCAPING THE 9 TO 5
For Daniel Rikken, setting up camp by a river and spending a night under the stars is an ideal escape from the 9-5.
Spending his younger years touring the Victorian High Country with his mum and dad, Daniel’s love for getting out and about with his family has seen him experience some of Australia’s most beautiful locations – from scaling the spectacular Blue Rag Range to trekking through the red sands of the Simpson Desert.
To Daniel, nothing beats experiencing these “absolutely magnificent” places in his 79 Series, and when it comes to his role at ARB, he enjoys sharing his passion for the off road with customers keen to get their 4WDs ready to hit the tracks.
CUSTOMISING YOUR 4X4
Gary’s 4WD journey has lead him to working on his ultimate tourer! Wanting to showcase the best of the 4WD industry, Gary’s built his dream custom 79 series – a rig that turns heads no matter where it goes. Customising 4WD’s is Gary’s passion – and he’s just one of the genuine 4WDers at ARB stores who’ll happily share their expertise with their customers.
APPRECIATING THE CLASSICS
Roger Vickery’s life-long love of classic 4WD’s began with his dad’s vintage car parked out in the shed. Recalling how there has always been a 40 series in his life, his beloved 1982 model made it through a “nearly impossible trip” up the Brisbane River at LandCruiser Park which ultimately sparked his dedication to return it to “just like it was when it was brand new.”
