ARB Altitude Electric Hardshell Rooftop Tent

Setting up and packing down has never been so easy – one push and you’re good to go. Pressing the button at either side of the tent will activate the actuators, completing the process in a minute and giving you time to focus on the rest of the campsite.

ARB’s SmartFold™ hinge technology has been included on each side of the tent to enfold the canvas when closing, meaning no manual interaction is required. Introducing the technology to the camping industry, ARB have broken ground and eliminated a common pain point among roof top tent owners.

Tried and tested electronic actuators are at either end of the tent, lifting and closing the tent easily at the push of a button.

The hand layout fibreglass mould of the Altitude is crafted for both top and bottom shells to ensure every contour is perfect and purposeful. The shape has been designed to integrate with the look of 4WD’s, contrasting most larger tents on the market with a block-style look.

The shell itself is not painted, rather the natural colour of the gel coat has been utilised to increase durability.

Each step on the ladder is larger and deeper than other tent ladders, giving users comfort when accessing their bed for the night.

Comfort, convenience and safety are major features of the Altitude; and the ladder is no different-being the only tent on the market that features a handrail for easier access.

The ladder safely hooks on a purpose-built mount, giving a sturdy and easy-to-use foundation for the ladder. A downlight is included on the mount which beams amber and white lighting over the steps to increase your accessibility and safety at night.

The ends of the ladder are extendable, providing a bit of extra height for taller vehicles.

The ladder is internally stored in the roof of the tent, removing the need to sacrifice tub or cargo space to accommodate for a bulky ladder.

Comfort has been the focus around sleeping in this premium tent, housing a 70 mm thick mattress for plush cushioning when getting a good night’s rest.

The Altitude’s roof liner has been moulded to accommodate for heavy-duty blankets and pillows, giving it the ability to be packed down with all bedding inside.

The canvas has an array of pockets sewn into it. Each corner of the Altitude has a drink bottle holder, phone pocket, and also an accessory pocket to house everything needed throughout the night. Netting pockets have also been included to help store these items away when packing up and when not in use.

Surrounded by the best in heavy-duty canvas available, the Altitude’s 380gsm fabric is designed to go the distance. Breathable and strong, the 380gsm fabric was selected to provide Altitude with tough walls for protection and to provide the conditions for a good night’s sleep.

Each corner and door unzip, providing 360-degree panoramic views and giving a complete oversight of the surroundings when you’re out camping.

The Altitude is cargo and accessory friendly, with the ability to store items on top utilising in-built aluminium rails with integrated T slots.

For a fuller line of rack, as well as equipping a wider range of accessories and cargo, Altitude is able to have a crossbar kit equipped.

With a load capacity of 20kg, functionality of the tent is unhindered with the added weight- making carrying options endless.

Included with the tent is a bracket clamp system, which will work well with ARB’s signature BASE Rack, as well as most roof racks on the market.

Vehicle specific blades have been developed to allow wagon owners to equip the Altitude straight to the roof of their vehicle and reduce the roof load without the presence of a roof rack.

Utilising an Anderson plug connection from the vehicle’s battery, users can either choose to hardwire this in straight from the battery, or plug it into a 12V Anderson plug.

Engineers have also taken into account the common problem of draining the battery when not in use. By isolating the power when closing, interior power is turned off giving you peace of mind when worrying if you left a light on.

Climate control is headed by a two-way multi-speed fan that’s in-built to the roof of the Altitude, designed to be set higher or lower, as well as in or out depending on the climate.

Dual USB sockets are included, allowing for easy charging of phones and tablets using the magnetic suction cup mount. This mount allows for easy viewing whilst charging your devices and taking in the amazing views the Altitude provides.

With safety front of mind, the Altitude features an internal control box. From this interface, users can activate the failsafe before bed to isolate the power and prevent the tent being accessed by others. The control box also features a cigarette socket for powering other devices, as well as a USB C socket for powering more modern-day devices.

The Altitude has been heavily tested in every aspect; especially the actuator arm mechanism. In the unlikely case of an emergency, a manual override system has been included to control the tents movement if the electrical fails.

The Altitude includes one manual lock on either side of the tent for added security. Once closed, simply turn the locks to fix the tent in place and turn the key before you head on the road.

Drainage points have been included in each corner of the base to ensure that even in heavy rain, the base of the Altitude doesn’t carry water. Whilst traveling, a grommet on each corner blocks each drainage hole and prevents any dust from getting in whilst closed.

A wind deflector has been designed for the front of the Altitude to prevent any potential noise interference and to reduce any potential wind drag whilst equipped to your rooftop.
