Hotspot 1

Flange cap assembly—Fully machined nodular iron flange cap incorporates the stationary side of ARB's tough, proven and patented timed locking mechanism.

Hotspot 2

Air supply—At the flick of a dash-mounted switch, compressed air is delivered to the seal housing assembly via a nylon air line.

Hotspot 3

Clutch gear—ARB's patented locking system actually supports the side gear teeth, giving you more torque handling capability, exactly when you need it.

Hotspot 4

Cross shaft retaining pin—Custom made, one-piece hardened retaining pins lock into the assembly using a tapered thread junction.

Hotspot 5

Bonded seal—Steel reinforced, elastomer-bonded annular seal has been proven to handle 20,000+ cycles under the most extreme climatic temperatures on earth.

Hotspot 6

Two piece design—Machining a case from two pieces instead of three results in a much higher dimensional accuracy of the finished assembly and has allowed ARB engineers to improve the design of other elements, resulting in a reduction of moving parts, increased strength and a more responsive activation.

Hotspot 7

Pinion gear—Combining the strength of forged nickel alloy steel with redefined gear-tooth geometry, ARB has revolutionised locking differential gear design to yield structural advantages of up to 30% over commercially available high strength gears.

Hotspot 8

Spider block—A billet machined, alloy steel spider block supports the cross shafts, using the torque applied at each shaft to support the next shaft along.

Hotspot 9

Forged gears—With phenomenal forces being applied to the side and pinion gears within the differential, ARB has invested heavily in the application of forged gears, typically found in heavy duty commercial, race and agricultural transmissions.

Hotspot 10

Splined side gear—High grade surface treatments, forged nickel alloy steel and ARB's patented timed locking system make this the most ‘lockable’ gear in the industry.

Hotspot 11

Return spring—Instead of a complex external actuator system to engage/disengage the lock, ARB Air Lockers use up to 12 return springs to support the entire profile of the locking gear for a fast, positive and independent disengagement.

Hotspot 12

Diff case—Fully machined, one-piece nodular iron diff carrier case offers the rigidy of a one-piece factory differential with twice the standard number of pinion gears to cope with the torque.

Hotspot 13

Long cross shaft—Alloy steels and performance surface technology make for a high pressure running fit that can handle an enormous amount of punishment.

DOVETAIL MOUNTING EXTRUSION

This unique design allows more possibilities for mounting locations.

SIZES AND VEHICLE APPLICATIONS

A range of sizes and removable guard rail options.

DESIGNED AND ENGINEERED FOR OFF-ROAD USE

Made from extruded aluminium, the BASE Rack’s clever design mounts close to the roof line, doesn’t require a supporting sub frame and exerts no flex under load. Additionally, the revolutionary dovetail mounting system makes attaching and removing loads and accessories from your roof faster and easier.

All ARB roof racks and mounting kits are designed and engineered for off-road use and are rated and tested inline with the roof load limit of each individual vehicle. This means you can be assured that no matter where you go, your ARB roof rack is up to the task!

Further, to ensure proper weight distribution, each cross beam of the ARB BASE Rack is rated to 25kg, meaning you can load up to 25kg per beam or, for example, spread 75kg of load across three beams.

EXTRUDED ALUMINIUM BEAMS

The BASE Rack is manufactured from extruded aluminium beams. To further increase the rack’s overall rigidity, each beam is constructed of a single seamless box piece of aluminium with additional internal bracing for added strength, which runs the length of all internal and perimeter beams. Further strength to the overall rack design come from running the internal cross beams perpendicular to the length of the rack and vehicle.

Hotspot 13

Long cross shaft—Alloy steels and performance surface technology make for a high pressure running fit that can handle an enormous amount of punishment.

FULLY WELDED CONSTRUCTION

No bolts, structural screws or rivets – the BASE Rack is robot welded for superior strength, accuracy and style.

CROSS BEAM DESIGN

Shorter beams and subsequently more rigidity and virtually no flex in the rack’s overall construction under load.

EASILY CART LONGER ITEMS

The cross beam design additionally makes for easier cartage of long and/or thin items such as timber, pipe and poles.

UNIQUE DOVETAIL DESIGN

The BASE Rack takes accessories and cargo loading to a whole new level of simplicity, speed and personalisation. By incorporating a dovetail extrusion around the full perimeter as well as along each edge of the internal beams, we have created more possibilities for mounting locations whilst also lowering the mounting point to complement the overall low-profile design of the rack.

By utilising a dovetail rather than a channel, you can attach and remove items without having to slide them along a channel or remove any other accessories or fixing points that are already in that channel.

QUICKLY ATTACH AND REMOVE ITEMS

The combination of the dovetail extrusion matched with the dovetail clamp design of the complementary accessory range makes for quicker interactions.

ENJOY MORE ROOM ON TOP

Side mounting also frees up more uninterrupted cargo space along the top of each internal and external beam.

NO MORE DUST AND DEBRIS COLLECTION

The dovetail design means less dirt entrapment – resulting in easy cleaning! The dovetail extrusion runs 360 around the outer perimeter, as well as up and down both edges of each internal beam.

LOW PROFILE

A one-piece, fully welded platform rack fitted to a range of low-profile blade mounts, the BASE Rack provides improved access into low clearance areas, all the while looking sleek on the roof of your pride and joy!

REMOVABLE END CAPS

Nothing ruins a sleek roof rack like metres of electrical cable and cable ties. Yet another advantage of the extruded aluminium beam design is that electrical cabling can be fed either through the removable corner caps or by drilling a small entry point on a hidden inner fascia, where you are mounting your work or driving lights along the perimeter.

Additionally, a revolutionary new electrical roof grommet allows all your electrical wires to neatly pass through the skin of your vehicle’s roof and into appropriate pillar cavities for a seamless 12-volt connection.

TWO-PIECE MODULAR SOLUTION

BASE Rack has now introduced a new two-piece modular design that is available in three new rack sizes. The new two-piece modular design assembles quickly, is easier to store and freight.

Retaining the fully welded BASE Rack beams, all current BASE Rack features and suited for the Van’s larger roof platform. When a two-piece rack is specified for an application, the fitting kit has also been designed as a two-piece format.

MAKE IT YOUR OWN

The BASE Rack is sold standard as a low-profile platform rack and can easily be transformed into a touring or trade rack by installing the rail system that best suits your needs.

AVAILABLE SIZES

The BASE Rack is available in nine sizes to suit a huge range of vehicle applications.

As each rack size decreases, the rack drops one internal beam. The strength of the BASE Rack has also allowed the exclusive fitment of a 1,835mm rack to the full range of ARB canopies.
